Jennuine Bliss Balls
It is so important to have healthy, balanced, and of course delicious snacks readily available around the home. In our house, sometimes we are on the go and need a quick bite to hold us over, or we just need a satisfying snack to munch on during the day. These little round wonders are something that I find so much joy in preparing. This recipe can easily be made from pantry staples, and it might be a fun, no-bake project for you and your family to make together!
The beauty of these bliss balls is that they are packed with both flavour and nutrition. The series of seeds that you will be using in this recipe offers beneficial omega 3 fatty acids, an essential fatty acid (EFA), they help support a balanced blood sugar, and also provide an amazing amount of fibre.
Fibre is something that the nutrition world refers to as the missing macronutrient. We refer to it this way because fibre is something that is an essential missing piece in the standard diet that most people abide by today. There are two types of fibre categories: soluble fibre and insoluble fibre. Soluble fibre is easily digested by our systems, whereas insoluble fibre acts as a “bulk laxative” if you will, because we don’t actually fully digest insoluble fibre. We need fibre to keep a healthy gut. The fibre we eat is partially digested by our intestinal flora. This helps feed them and keep them happy and healthy. If you have heard about prebiotic foods, these are foods that provide the best food source for your flora based on the types of fibre they have to offer. Nuts and seeds are a great source of soluble fibre, so we are snacking on delicious goodies, but also maintaining a healthy gut!
